WeAreDevelopers World Congress further strengthens its position as the leading global platform for developers and tech leaders, with support at the highest political level.

Vienna/Berlin, February 9, 2026: WeAreDevelopers World Congress Europe, taking place from July 8–10 in Berlin, will be held under the patronage of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation (BMDS) for the first time in 2026. Germany’s first federal minister for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation, Karsten Wildberger, will officially open the congress.

Karsten Wildberger to officially open WeAreDevelopers World Congress Europe
The opening of the WeAreDevelopers World Congress Europe by Karsten Wildberger marks a significant moment for WeAreDevelopers and highlights the growing importance of collaboration between technology, business, and policymaking. Against the backdrop of increasing demands around digital sovereignty, the integration of AI into existing processes and products, and the urgent need to modernise public sector structures, this dialogue is becoming more critical than ever.

Digital sovereignty is not written – it is built. It takes shape where developers, industry, and policymakers step up together and take responsibility. To remain sovereign, competitive, and able to act, Europe must turn ideas into execution – with the creativity, expertise, and passion of developers who transform vision into digital reality”, says Karsten Wildberger, Germany’s federal minister for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation.

With the patronage of the BMDS, WeAreDevelopers World Congress underscores its role as a key platform for exchange across software engineering, AI, and emerging technologies. Each year, more than 15,000 participants gather in Berlin to build skills, exchange knowledge, foster relationships, and actively shape technological progress in Europe and beyond.

WeAreDevelopers has evolved into one of the world’s largest platforms where technology, AI, and economic reality come together. The patronage of the BMDS is a strong signal of the relevance of our global network. What matters now is creating the right framework conditions so that digitalisation can truly have an impact. Technological innovation requires more than speed, it needs transparency, orientation, and modern legislation,” says Sead Ahmetović, CEO and Co-founder of WeAreDevelopers.

While we continue to expand our global presence with WeAreDevelopers World Congress North America, the collaboration with the German Federal Ministry shows that we are deliberately strengthening our European network at the same time. With both events and our global online platform, we are actively creating a cross-Atlantic bridge, strengthening dialogue and exchange across both continents,” says Benjamin Ruschin, Executive Chairman and Co-founder of WeAreDevelopers.
